The environmental performance evaluation standards for vulcanizing agents mainly focus on their chemical composition, production process, usage effect, and waste disposal, including the following:
1. Chemical composition and toxicity
No nitrosamine generation: Environmentally friendly vulcanizing agents should avoid using chemicals that can produce carcinogenic nitrosamines, such as NOBS and DTIM, which may release harmful substances during the vulcanization process.
Low toxicity alternatives: For example, JYA-56 environmentally safe vulcanizing agent serves as a substitute for dimethyl disulfide (DMDS), with lower toxicity and higher safety.
2. Production process and emissions
Reduce harmful gas emissions: Environmentally friendly vulcanizing agents should minimize the emission of harmful gases such as hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide during production and use, in accordance with standards such as the "Determination of Hydrogen Sulfide in Fixed Pollution Source Waste Gas - Methylene Blue Spectrometric Method".
Green production process: adopting lead-free sulfurization system, such as the system composed of sulfurizing agent TCY and Ca/Mg acid absorbing stabilizer, to reduce heavy metal pollution.
3. Usage effect and performance
Efficient vulcanization ability: Environmentally friendly vulcanizing agents should have vulcanization effects equivalent to traditional vulcanizing agents, such as improving the heat resistance, oil resistance, and aging resistance of rubber products.
Low temperature vulcanization performance: Some environmentally friendly vulcanizing agents (such as JYA-56) can achieve effective vulcanization at low temperatures, reducing energy consumption.
4. Waste disposal and recycling
Recyclability: Environmentally friendly vulcanizing agents should be easy to recycle and dispose of after use, reducing secondary pollution to the environment.
Compliance with environmental regulations: For example, the "Catalogue of Toxic and Harmful Raw Materials (Products) Substitutes Encouraged by the State" clearly requires the elimination of harmful chemicals and the promotion of environmentally friendly vulcanizing agents.
5. International and domestic standards
International standards, such as the EU's White Paper on Future Chemicals Policy Strategy, provide clear requirements for the environmental performance of vulcanizing agents.
Domestic standards, such as T/CSTM 00088-2019 "Sulfiding agent for tert butylphenol disulfide polymer and stearic acid complex", regulate the quality and performance of environmentally friendly vulcanizing agents.
